About Dartford Larder:
Dartford Larder Store is a new charitable and local council initiative operating under the New Avenues Charity, committed to addressing food insecurity and supporting individuals and families facing financial challenges in the Dartford area. The project provides essential food assistance to those in crisis, working closely with local communities, businesses, and volunteers to ensure those in need receive vital support.
Dartford Larder primarily focuses on providing emergency food to individuals and families, stemming from issues such as job loss, illness, benefit delays, or other unforeseen crises. In addition to providing food, Dartford Larder helps signpost individuals to relevant support services, addressing the root causes of food insecurity and facilitating a pathway to long-term stability.
Volunteers play a key role in the operations, contributing time and effort to tasks such as food collection, sorting, and distribution, ensuring the smooth functioning of the project.
Job Summary:
The Larder Assistant will support the Dartford Larder Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the foodstore, ensuring the efficient and effective running of the service. This role will involve assisting with managing volunteers, maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols, and liaising with clients and the Larder Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Manager in the day-to-day operations of the foodstore.

Help with managing check-in and check-out systems for clients.

Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring they are well-organised and working efficiently.

Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed to maintain a secure environment.

Maintain a clean and tidy foodstore, ensuring that the space is well-organised for both clients and volunteers.

Communicate effectively with clients, assisting with their needs as they access services.

Work closely with the Larder Store Manager to ensure the smooth running of the store and address any issues that may arise.

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to clients, volunteers, and the project in compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.

Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the wider work of the project and organisation.
Key Requirements:

Availability to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays (daytime) and Wednesdays (evening).

Previous experience in customer service or a supervisory role is desirable.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise responsibilities.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with volunteers and clients.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and maintaining operational efficiency.

Understanding of the importance of health and safety protocols in a public service environment.

Commitment to upholding confidentiality and safeguarding sensitive information.
Additional Information:

The Larder Assistant will work closely with the Dartford Larder Store Manager and may be required to step into leadership roles when necessary.

This is a part-time position with flexibility required on working days.

Competitive hourly pay based on experience.

This role may require occasional evening and weekend work.

A DBS check may be required due to the nature of the role.

Salary: Competitive
Holiday: Pro-rata
Workplace: Office based
Location(s): Foodstore Locations
Job Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment at the Dartford Larder. The role requires an individual who takes pride in their work, follows health and safety regulations, and ensures the premises are kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The successful candidate will work two shifts per week, each lasting 1.5 hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitising surfaces.

Clean and maintain high-traffic areas, including food storage spaces, staff areas, and common areas.

Ensure compliance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations when handling cleaning products.

Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately, following health and safety guidelines.

Replenish cleaning supplies as needed and report any stock shortages.

Identify and report any maintenance or hygiene issues to the Dartford Larder Manager.

Adhere to health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous cleaning experience preferred but not essential.

A good understanding of COSHH regulations and safe handling of cleaning products.

Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.

A positive work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently.

Polite and professional manner when interacting with staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Working Hours:
-
3 hours per week (2 shifts of 1.5 hours each, on separate days).

Flexible scheduling to be agreed upon with the Dartford Larder Manager.
